Following these steps will improve your chances of being selected as a scholarship recipient:
Complete and return application as soon as possible. The application deadline (postmark) will be April 7, 2026 (9:00 pm PDT - electronic).
Scholarship awards are based on the applicant’s GPA, Work Experience and Leadership Qualities, with a possible total of 100 points. Failure to complete one or more sections of the application will disqualify your application.
Use the space provided, and be as concise as possible. Within reason, additional information may be included on supplemental sheets (PDF version).
Recipients of the scholarship awards will be notified by the Association by the end of May 2026. Funds will be sent to the scholastic institutions in early-to-mid August (prior to the start of school). All applicants will receive notification by mid-summer, 2026.
Eligibility
The mission of the PNWGFA Scholarship is to support the educational goals of students from the Pacific Northwest.
Applicants must be high school seniors, college freshmen or sophmores from the Pacific Northwest who have either been accepted or are currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year accredited college or university. (A Student ID number is required for fund distribution.)
Special (additional) consideration may be given to, but not limited to students who have chosen a career in some area of agriculture.
Applicants may only be awarded a PNWGFA Scholarship once; previous winners not eligible again.
A designated Scholarship Committee, comprised of respected and knowledgeable industry members, will review and score all eligible applications based on an established Scoring Matrix (section values are highlighted in the header of each application section).
Once 2026 Scholarship application review has concluded, the Committee will submit their recommendations to the PNWGFA Board of Directors for final review and financial award amounts. *Note: The Board reserves the right to increase or decrease financial awards as budget or merit dictates.
The scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, demonstrated leadership, extracurricular accomplishments, work experience and an evaluation by a counselor or advisor.
All recipients must enter school no later than the fall term following the announcement of the financial award.
Administrative Procedure
Award checks (with designation letter or form) will be mailed to the college or institution in early-to-mid August. Checks cannot be mailed directly to the student.
If an awardee changes college or institution after their 2026 application has been submitted, PNWGFA must be notified immediately. If not notified by August 1 of given year, the award may be nullified.
