1.  Scholarship Program - Application DEADLINE is April 15th!
Each year the PNWGFA offers four $1,000 Scholarships to our members employees or their children.  Follow this link for the Application Form for the current year.  Please distribute to any worthy candidates you might know.  

We are almost out of time...PLEASE get your applications in the mail.  
Applications must be POSTMARKED by April 15th!!!

 

2.  28th Annual Country Elevator Council -- April 24 & 25, 2008: 
Our 28th Annual CEC Meeting is THREE WEEKS AWAY!!  We will be in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho at the Coeur d'Alene Resort.  Below you will find some information on this event.

w  Golf Information...We will be playing the Coeur d'Alene Resort golf course with the world famous floating green.  Our tee times start at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday the 24th.  There will be box lunches available at the golf course after our meetings wrap up.  You will be responsible for your own drinks on the golf course and tipping your caddie.

w  Welcome Reception...We will meet back at the Resort for our Welcome Reception, which will run from about 6:30 p.m. until about 8:00 p.m.  There will be light Hors d'Oeuvres and cocktails as we pass out the golf prizes.

3.  91st Annual Convention & Golf Tournament -- June 26 & 27, 2008:
We still have a few months before our Annual Convention, but there is limited room space, so you should plan to attend and make your reservation soon.  Campbell's Resort just made some major renovations and every room in our block will be newly finished.

4.  Foss Maritime Sells Some of Fleet to Tidewater Barge Lines
Two of our members are changing their presence on the River.  Last week MarineLink.com announced the news.  Foss Maritime Company has agreed to sell selected assets, including two tugs and twenty barges currently operating on the Columbia/Snake River System to our friends at Tidewater Barge Lines.  Follow this link to read all the details.


5.  AFIA Action Advisory - FDA Solicits Comments on Food Protection Plan
Our friends at American Feed Industry Association have issued an Action Advisory...FDA solicits comments on its Food Protection Plan and third-party certification; interested members should make comments.  Follow this link for all the detials


6.  WA Department of Agriculture - Future of Farming Update
Governor Gregoire and the WA State Legislature have asked WSDA to prepare a statewide strategic plan for Washington agriculture.  They hope to finalize the plan by September 2008.  Follow this link for more information on the plan and some useful links.
