1.  Country Elevator Conference

2.  PNWGFA Scholarship Program - DEADLINE APPROACHING
Each year the Association awards four $1000 Scholarships to deserving recipients from the Grain & Feed industry.  The deadline for applications is April 15, 2006.  Applications need to be POST MARKED by April 15th.  The application is posted on our webpage and you can also download it here.

3.  PCC Railroad Update
Barbara Ivanov, Director of Freight Strategy & Policy for Washington State Department of Transportation and a speaker at the 26th Annual Country Elevator Council, issued two letters regarding the timelines for the line purchases and the appraisal value of the railroads.  Follow this link for Barbara's letters.


4.  New Energy Bill Introduced
In Washington, D.C. on 4/6/2006 Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND) introduced a bold new energy bill.  Follow this link for more details.


5.  May 11 Hearing - Railroad Fuel Surcharges
The Surface Transportation Board is holding a hearing regarding railroad fuel surcharges on May 11, 2006.  If you would like to participate, the deadline to sign up is April 20th, if you would like to submit written testimony the deadline is April 27th.  For more information follow this link.


6.  April 22 Memorial Service - Daniel G. Amstutz
