The planning committee is currently working out the schedule for our
event and lining up speakers with great topics to present to our group
in April. I will be sending out more information in the next few
weeks. It's not to early to reserve your room!

2. PNWGFA Scholarship Program
Each year the Association awards four $1000 Scholarships to deserving
recipients from the Grain & Feed industry. The deadline for
applications is April 15, 2006. The application is posted on our

WISHA Inspections
March 14, 2006 - The Washington Farm Bureau and the Department of
Labor & Industries announced the settlement of a federal civil
rights lawsuit involving inspections of privately owned farms.

4. USDA - Positive BSE Test Results
On Monday (3/13/06) the USDA issued the following Statement
by USDA Chief Veterinary Officer John Clifford (DVM) regarding
positive BSE test results in Alabama.
5. USDA Export Grain Quality Report Available
March 6, 2006 - The USDA's Grain Inspection, Packers & Stockyards
Administration released its latest report on the quality of US
grain exports.
6. WWRP - Farmland Conservation Grants Available
Deadline May 1, 2006 - The Washington Wildlife & Recreation
Program issued the following Press
Release regarding the deadline for possible farmland conservation
grants.
7. WA Senate Legislation - Odessa Aquifer Bill Passes
March 7, 2006 - Good News for much of the Columbia Basin, the
Washington State Senate passed a bill prime-sponsored by Sen. Mark
Schoesler that provides short-term help for those relying on the

8. AgOTC - Export Restrictions Proposed by Dept. of Homeland
Security
Peter Friedmann with the Agriculture Ocean Transportation Coalition
